A crime writer with a criminal past is blackmailed by one of his former associates, so he kills the man, but then his friend a police inspector invites him to help solve the case and his secretary (Dinah Sheridan) also gets involved. This is a well constructed British crime thriller with the best performance from Dinah Sheridan who starts by thinking she is helping her boss by trying to solve the crime before realising that he is not quite what he seems. There is also a good cameo role for Dora Bryan.
