A man (Tyrone Power) working in a carnival is friendly with a woman (Joan Blondell) with a mind reading act, but when he is accidentally involved in the death of her partner hea taks over the secret of her act with another woman (Coleen Gray). He becomes famous but only by manipulating people. What makes this film interesting is that Tyrone Power plays a character who is unpleasant and there are also good supporting performances from Joan Blondell and Coleen Gray.
