A group of strangers are trapped in a remote farm house by a band of zombies and a violent confrontation develops. This is the first of George Romero's zombie films and the film that set the standard for many of the subsequent zombie films. In many ways it was a game changer for the horror genre of films. It is well filmed and gives a good mix of tension and horror. The atmosphere is generated by the fact that it was filmed in black and white. George Romero created an influencial independent zombie film that also had a significant cultural subtext. It gained a cult following as a mdnight film screening in America.
