A woman who has lost her fortune (Hedda Hopper) and her lawyer (Bryant Washburn) are involved in a train crash in which a young woman (Marceline Day) manages to escape from her prison guard. The woman and the lawyer take her in and pretend the girl is her niece and try to marry her off to a rich man (Nick Stuart) with the aim of blackmailing her about her past to get the money. However love and conscience complicate matters.
