An aspiring writer (Laraine Day) gets the job as secretary to a famous novelist (Kirk Douglas). However she discovers that the job is not what she thought as he turns out to be a womanising playboy. When she quits, he decides that he does want her and want to marry her. Whislt the underlying plot is not great it does have a witty script that is well delivered by Keenan Wynn as his friend and confidant and good performances from Kirk Douglas and Laraine Day.
