Richard Burton's rich cousin goes to Europe where he marries Olivia de Haviland, but when he dies Richard Burton thinks she was responsible. However he inherits everything and when he meets her he is split between his affection for her and his belief that she caused his cousin's death. Richard Burton and Olivia de Haviland give good performances in this suitably atmospheric version of the Daphne du Maurier story.
