Richard Gere is a man with manic depression who is treated by psychiatrist Lena Olin only she oversteps the professional boundry and starts an affair with him. They both have to deal with the consequences of their actions. Whilst the plot may not be realistic, Richard Gere gives a good performance as someone with biploar disorder as does Lauren Tom.
