Comment/Synopsis

Sherlock Holmes (Ian McKellern) is retired and loosing his memory, but he is writing down his last case with the help of the young son (Milo Parker) of his housekeeper (Laura Linney. The film is an interesting mix of three different story lines. There is the old Holmes with the housekeeper and the son, there is ther telling of the events of his last case and an aside of a trip to Japan. There is a good performance from Ian McKellen in what is a very different portrayal of Sherlock Holmes and there is good support from laura Linney.
