A man is released from an asylum and on his way to London mysteriously wins a cake which takes him into a world of spies and murder. Ray Milland is good in the lead as the man trying to prove his innocence and that he is being chased by German spies. Marjorie Reynolds is less convincing as the European who may or may not be helping him. Whilst not the best of director Fritz Lang's films there are some good scenes, notably the seance.
