To escape people he owes money to, a man signs up to an expendable on a space mission to colonise a remote planet. S an expendable every time he dies his body is reprinted and his mind reimplanted, so he can live again. The expedition is led by a megalomanic ex-politician and once on the planet they discover the insect like inhabitants. The film ends up being a slightly strange mix of genre. It starts by looking at the nature of humanity and what it is to live and die. It then moves into male/female relationships, a cult like leadership and colonising a planet with a life form already living there. What starts as a good idea falls down as it gest lost in all these other plot strands, leaving a feeling this this could have been better.
