In 1903 in the run up to the World Fair a well off family with four daughters goes through a year of ups and downs and discovering love. The film as a series of set piece episodes in the life of the family that is indispersed with a selection of musical numbers (Meet Me In St Louis, The Boy Next Door, The Trolley Song, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas). There is no plot as such, but this is just about the atmosphere and feel good film. This is one the best of MGM's Technicolor musicals.
