Comment/Synopsis

Vincent Price is a European prince who invites various local gentry into his castle as protection from the Red Death ravaging the countryside. He brings in local peasant girl Jane Asher who discovers that Vincent Price is a satan worshipper and Hazel Court who wants to be a bride of satan. Vincent Price uses fear to manipulate people and so this has less blood and gore than most horror films and is filmed with colourful sets and costumes. In many ways this is better than most of the British horror films of the 1960's led by a strong performance from Vicent Price. The film is absed on a short story by Edgar Allan Poe.
