A scientist studying a frozen mammoth triggers a device that a attracts an alien from outer space that crashes into the museum and takes over the body of the mammoth. The alien controlled mammoth then starts running amock in the town and so government agents are sent to destroy it. This is not a great film and not helped by an insipid lead character. The plot is not very original, or very good. At best it is a slight snd up fo 1950's alien invasion films. It does have the odd good scenes. Tom Skerritt is good but under used and there is good support from from Summer Glau as the daughter.
