Comment/Synopsis
In the near future, as society is on the verge of breaking down, the roads of Australia are terrorised by violent gangs. Mel Gibson is a policeman, who when his partner, wife and child are murdered, turns vigilante and goes after the gang. This low budget Australian film propelled Mel Gibson onto the world stage and led to several sequels, of which the second is arguably the best of the series. It also has the reputation for being the first of the modern post-apocalyptic films.
