This is Orson Wells version of the Shaespeare play, with Orson Welles as the lead and Jeanette Nolan as Lady Macbeth. This version is very dark and turgid by todays standards but is quite faithful to the original script. It was shot on a very limited budget and with limited space to create the sets. This gives it a very styalised quality and almost Gothic horror.
