At the end of the 18th century a woman (Kate Beckinsale) with something of a reputation schemes to find hubands for her daughter (Morfydd Clark) and her self with the support of her American friend (Chloe Sevigny). This is an adaptation of a Jane Austen story dealing with social climbing and morality.
