A woman is killed by a nobleman for witchcraft and then her eldest daughter is killed when she challenges hima about the sexual reason for this. Her younger daughter is taken in by the nobleman's family and later whena plauge hits the land she marries the nobleman's daughter . However then the elder daughter comes back from the dead, entices the younger daughter husband and plots with him to kill the younger daughter. This is typical gothic Italian horror though ithough the pacing varies through the film and the acting is variable.There is a usual good performance from Barabara Steele.
