Bob Hoskins is a successful London gangster who is in the process of setting up a deal with some Americans then his casino's start being bombed and some of his people are killed. He has to find out who is responsible. Bob Hoskins gives a good performance in his first major film role and is ably supported by Helen Mirren in the film that made her a star in films.
