A man (Van Johnson) returns to paris and remembers his life in paris after World War 2. He meets two sisters and rejects one (Donna Reed) for the other (Elizabeth Taylor). Over time their relationship comes under strain due to their different characters, his inability to cope with having his novels rejected, too much drinking and a tendancy of both of them to flirt with other people (Eva Gabor and Roger Moore). There is a good performance from Eliabeth Taylor, with good support from Van Johnson as the troubled writer, Donna Reed as the rejected sister and Walter Pidgeon as the father. Whilst there are some issues with how the story is interpreted, it still works as a story. There is also a nice cameo from Eva Gabor, but Roger Moore in an early role is very flat.
