A wealthy widower with two children meets a woman working in a shop and starts up a relationship with her. After 2 year of having an affair with her and providing a flat for her, his family and children want to put an end to the affair as she is not of the right class. This is a dated social comment, but does have a good performance from Claudette Colbert and a typical drunken performance from Charles Ruggles.
