Comment
An aristocratic woman marries an aristocratic man for love, despite opposition from his family as her family has a reputation for scandal. His place in society and politics is threatened by her scandalous affair with the poet Lord Byron. Director Robert Bolt produced a visually impressive film with a strong British cast. The weakness in the film is the disjointed plot and that Sarah Miles is miscast (but she was married to the director at the time). It is a good historical romp, even if it lacks historical accuracy.
