A song writer (Johnnie Walker) moves to New York to try and get a famous singer (Alice Day) to listen to and sing his songs. However he has no success until the singer is told he is very rich, when she takes an interest in him. However the lies and his jealous ex-girlfriend start to unravel his life. This is as much a comment on the lure of money rather than the music.
