After the river is diverted from a town on the edge of the desert, it goes into decline and is taken over by a meth dealer (Will Rothhaar). In the middle of the town is a man (Dylan Walsh) in a dead end job whose highlight of the day is talking to the lady on the checkout (Tracy Middendorf) at the local supermarket. One day he goes home early from work to find his wife (Penny Balfour) having sex with another man. This leads to a change in his life inspired by the man building a new petrol station (Danny DeVito) in the town, starting a relationship with the woman he has secretly loved for years and sets up a challenge with the man running the town. This is an engaging and low key comedy drama that keeps your interest and is helped by the performances from Dylan Walsh and Tracy Midendorf as the innocent lovers.
