Comment
Tom Cruise is a sports agent who finds a conscience and love with single mother Rene Zellweger whilst trying to negotiate a new contract for American football player Cuba Gooding Jr. There are some very good parts to film and it manages to blend a film that is both a love story and a business man finding a conscience. Tom Cruise and Rene Zellweger both give good, but very different performances and it is the two of them that carry the film. There is also good support from Bonnie Hunt as her sister but it is Cuba Gooding Jr who steals all the scenes he is in and won an Oscar for his performance. Jonathan Lipnicki gives a cute performance as the 6 year old son of Rene Zellweger. What Cameron Crowe writes and directs here is vulnerability in romance that is finally shown by Tom Cruise expressing his love for Rene Zellweger. The "Show me the money" line has become an iconic phrase.
