A woman is sent to stay with her aunt at Jamaica Inn where she discovers it is a front for deliberate wrecking of ships and teams up with an under-cover law-officer to expose tghe gang and save themselves. This was Alfred Hitchcocks last film in his Britsh period of film making. The film does suffer from the fact that Charles Laughton was co-producer on the film and significantly interfered with the production which produced changes to the story and Laughton's character. This was Maureen O'Hara's first film and she was cast at the demand of Charles Laughton and she gives a good performance. Charles Laughton's performance is not so good. The film ends up as mixed back with some good atmospheric scenes that have a Hitcock influence and some that are less so.
