An octopus affected by radiation grows to a giant size, statrs attacking ships and then San Francisco. A submarine commander (Kenneth Tobey) and two scientists (Faith Domergue and Donald Curtis) work together to stop it whilst managing a love triangle. The plot is typical of 1950's creature features with the added bonus of two men fighting over Faith Domergue and the stop motion effects of the octopus from Ray Harryhausen.
