Comment
Michael Caine is Harry Palmer, an army sergeant who works for the British Secret Service. After several top British scientists go missing he is moved departments and given the job of finding who is behind the loss of the scientists. This is a different take on the 1960's cold war spy film with Michael Caine as the working class spy dealing with the inept form filling upper class managers. This film is notable for its contrast with Harry Saltzman's James Bond films that portray a very different view of cold war spys. There is some good use of music from John Barry who also did the music for James Bond. There are some interesting sound effects with some intriguing photography in places. This is the first of Harry Palmer films and is based on the novel by Len Deighton.
