A police inspector (David THewlis) arrives at a dinner party for the engagement of the daughter (Chloe Pirrie) of a wealthy but pompus family (Ken Stott and Miranda Richardson) to inform them that a young woman (Sophie Rundle) has committed suicide. Gradually he revealls that each of them knew her and contributed to her death. This is a good version of the J B Priestley play which gives it a strong plot and dialogue. It is well produced and there are good performances from all the cast. it is equally as good as the 1956 version with Alastair Sim.
