Comment
A newspaper reporter (Ben Lyon) is under pressure from his editor to report stories. He is sent to report on woman (Claudette Colbert) swimming nude. After talking to her he discovers that she is the daughter a fisherman who he suspects is bringing in illegal Chinese immigrants. As he romances her to try and find the truth in his suspicions, she starts to fall in love with him. This is a good drama with some strong characters and a background of romance. It is definately a pre-code film, wiith people of the same sex in bed, bondage, nudity. Whilst by today's standards there is nothing remarkable, it was pushing the boundaries at the time it was made. The highlight of the film is the performance from Claudette Colbert who is both the strong female and the big eyed woman in love.
