A man who is drifting through his life, inherits some money, gets married and sets himself up in a shop. Eventually his wife's nagging leads him to set fire to the shop, leave home and start a new life in the country. John Mills gives a typically good performance, though overall the film has a lack lustre feel, there are a few good scenes, but other parts of the film are very flat. The film is based on the work of H G Wells.
