An unorthodox and radical vicar is mistakenly sent to an old fashioned conservative parish. There he tries to live out his version of Christianity by helping people but causes all sorts of problems in the village and for the church. This is a great British saitre on religion and social attitudes with good performances across the cast. There are some great comic elements in the film but it is the social comment that makes the film.
