Comment/Synopsis

A young boy goes to stay in the country house of his school friend for the summer. He is befriended by one of the young women (Julie Christie) in the house who is having an affair with one of the local village farmers (Alan Bates) and he is the go between taking secret letters between them. During the summer he learns about life and starts to explore about women and sexuality. This is a well filmed adaptation with suitably understated performances from Julie Christie and Alan Bates.
