In the future a person's place in society is determined at birth by their genes. Ethan Hawke is a man deemed not perfect who assumes the identity of Jude Law in order to achieve his dream of going into space. Whilst training he falls in love with Uma Thurman. However his plans are jeopardised when the program director is murdered and the police start investigating. This is an interesting take on genetic engineering and prejudice, but the plot lacks twists and the characters are quite flat. The talents of Jude Law and Uma Thurman are under used.
