Comment/Synopsis
A professional card player who only plays fair, falls foul of a crooked gambling syndicate and falls for wealthy socialte. The plot is nothing original as crime and high society meet with romance across the divide. Barbara Stanwyck gives a good performance blending romance and a strong willed character. This being just a pre-code film it portrays gambling as alright if honest and also includes suicide, murder, adultery and divorce. Whilst not a great film it is worth watching for the performance of Barbara Stanwyck.
