A young welathy woman marries her poor painting instructor and struggles to make ends meet living in the Mews opposite the the big houses she was brought up in. When he dies in an accident, she is backmailed and goes through various adventures before finding happiness. Maureen O'Hara is good as the Victorian lady coming to terms with poverty and dispair but finding hope. There is also good support from Sybil Thorndike as the old hag that blackmails her.
