A chemist (Douglass Montgomery) who is making his living by selling his own formulation hair restorer from a fair ground stall. Their marriage is on the rocks as she (Patricia Burke) is having an affair with a man (Garry Marsh) she is trying to persuade to give her a leading role in a play and he falls in love with a woman (Hazel Court) on a stall opposite his stall. He decides to kill her, but she actually dies of natural causes, though the police then start to suspect she was murdered. This is a good British thriller with good performances from Patricia Burke as the aspiring actress seeking fame and Hazel Court as the working class girl looking for love and security.
