Two vaudeville actors join together in a song and dance double act. The plot is very then and the final third fairly nationalistic as it is a film made in World War 2, but set in World War 1. The song and dance numbers with Judy Gartland and Gene Kelly in the first part of the film are very good in what was Gene Kelly's first staring role. This early Busby Berkeley film has good set piece numbers though not of the scale of some of his later films. The title song is the best and most memorable.
