A doctor (Candace Cameron Bure) is driving from LA to New York to be with her boyfriend but gets stopped by the police in a small town on the way and whilst doing community service as the local doctor reassess her life and her loves. This takes the plot from Doc Hollywood but lacks the humour, personal stories and depth but it adds a moral dimension.
