In the early 1800's when American has bought Louisiana from the French, two military explorers, Lewis and Clarke, are sent to find a river route across to the pacific ocean, along the way they are helped and hindered by the local Indians. This is very loosely based on historical fact, but there are good erformances from the three main lead characters, with Fred MacMurray and Charlton Heston as the two explorers, Donna Reed as the Indian lady acting as guide and lover to Charlton Heston and Barbara Hale as his white girl friend.
