The leading designer of virtual reality games survives an assasination attempt and when her organic pod is damaged she and her new bodyguard enter the game. As they progress the division between game and reality becomes increasing difficult to decide. This is David Cronenberg pushing his vision of virtual reality to its limits. The matrix uses this theme and is about impressive effects and CGI, but this film is more studied about the implications of VR and less effects laden.
