In the early 1900's a popular music hall star suddenly retires from the stage because she has an illegitimate daughter. 30 years later the daughter (Jessie Matthews) returns to Engalnd as an aspiring actress and is persuaded to pretend to be her mother who has not aged with various comic and farcical consequences. Jessie Matthews successfully recreates her stage role. In this film she shows her talent for musical comedy, as she sings and dances her way through a film with a silly but entertaining plot.
