Bette Midler is an unpleasant woman disliked by everyone in the town and when she dies after her car crashes into the river, policeman Danny DeVito suspects muder. However everyone in the town has a motive. This is basically a good idea, but the script lets it down, despite some reasonable performances from Danny DeVito, Bette Midler, Neve Campbell and Jamie Lee Curtis, but Casey Affleck is too weak to carry a lead role and Will Ferrell has little more than a cameo role.
