A young man's life spirals downhill after he is wrongly expelled from school. He gets involved with a couple in the theatre,marries her, but she then takes all his money and he ends up as a gigolo in Paris. The narrative is weak in places but Alfred Hitchcock shows some of his visual style and creative cinematography in this film.
