Pierce Brosnan is a vulcanologist who is sent to a town to investigate a supposedly dormant volcano. When it starts to erupt he has to escape with LInda Hamilton who is the mayor of the town. The first half of the film is the scientists looking at will the volcano errrupt and Pierce Brosnam being the lone voice predicting disaster. The second half is how they try and escape from the exploding volcano, but whilst the effects and action sequences are good, the reality of how they escaped is highly unlikely. The two lead actors do well with the material they have to work with which varies from some good scenes to some weaker scenes.
