An arogant laywer (Claude Rains) has a girlfriend (Whitney Bourne) but is also seeing a night club singer (Margo). He wants to break up with the singer so manipulates the her into thinking the break is her fault. But she takes it badly and he ends up accidentally shooting her. Thinking he has killed her, he goes about constructing an alibi. This is a masterclass from Claude Rains as he dominates the film with his acting and the voice over that tells the story. There is good support from Margo as his lover. The begining and end is curious with three scantilly clad furies giving an introduction and conclusion.
