Comment
An actor and singer (Bing Crosby) whose career has reached the bottom and who has turned to drink, is given the lead in a play by a director (William Holden) who has a feisty relationship with the actors wife (Grace Kelly), who he thinks responsible for his problems. Bing Crosby gives an excellent performance as the alcoholic struggling with his career and marriage. Grace Kelly rightfully won an Oscar for her performance as the wife trying to keep her husband on track whilst falling for the director. This performance shows off her acting abilities rather than her beauty and elegance.
