The son of a missionary in China returns to his home town in America to find a wife. He is persuaded to stand as a no chance candidate for mayor, but ends up winning and trying to rid the town of corruption. This is a different role than usual for Harold Lloyd and there is good support from Una Merkel as the love interest.
