Comment/Synopsis

Five astronauts (4 men and 1 woman (Marie Windsor)) land on the dark side of the moon where they find a cave with breathable air. After fighting a giant sider they discover a city populated with the last few women of a dying race of telepathic beings. Whist they appear friendly, their plan is to steal the space ship and take over earth. The women are not really cats, just dressed in black leotards. This has to be viewed in the context of the period when it was made and so not worry about the problems with the science and practicalities. What makes this film of note is that it was originally released in 3D, has a score by Elmer Bernstien and is the first example of a film where space travellers encounter a race of beautiful women, with perfect hair, makeup and clothes and speak perfect English. A format that has been repeated several times since (Queen of Outer Space, Fire Maidens From Outer Space).
