A doctor who is captured by those fighting against the king is transported to Jamaica where he is bought as a slave by the beautiful daughter of the governer. He manages to escape and take over a ship and becomes a successful pirate. This is an early Errol Flynn as a swashbuckling pirate and Olivia de Haviland as the woman who starts off hating him and finally falls in love with him. The script is eipsodic and the pacing uneven, however there are some well done fight and battle scenes and some good interplay between Errol Flynn and Olivia de Haviland. This is not the best of this type that Errol Flynn made and Olivia de Haviland is underused though it was still very early in her career. It was however popular at the box office.
