A wealthy widow (Ethel Merman) is given the job as American ambassador to a small European Dutchy where her relaxed style causes chaos whilst her assistant (Donald O'Connor) falls in love with the princess (Vera-Ellen) of the country. This is based on the Broadway musical with an Irving Berlin score. I am not convinced by the performance of Ethel Merman, but there is good support Donald O'Connor and Vera-Ellen, particularly the dance number with the two of them.
